CHARMED
We've partnered with Joan Hornig jewelry to create one-of-a-kind 100th anniversary pieces.
“I’ve got something for the girls of Savannah, and all America, and all the world,” proclaimed Juliette Gordon Low. And with that statement in March of 1912, Juliette formed the first Girl Scout troop in Savannah, Georgia. Juliette believed so strongly in her dream of Girl Scouts for all girls that she sold her valuable and rare matched pearls necklace. The $8,000 she earned from the sale helped fund the early days of Girl Scouting. “Jewels are not important,” she said. “But the Girl Scouts are.”

Our ambitions aren’t quite so heady, but we do believe that by selling “our pearls” the impact can be life-changing for girls throughout Middle Tennessee and the country. Just as pearls played an important role in the early financial security of Girl Scouts, we hope they will secure our financial health for our second hundred years.

To commemorate our 100th anniversary, we’ve teamed with New York-based jewelry designer Joan Hornig to create some treasured keepsakes for Girl Scouts that will help us raise significant income for an endowment for our future operational needs and commemorate our 100th anniversary in a very meaningful way.
TN STATE MUSEUM
In Fall 2012, Tennessee State Museum will display Girl Scout vintage uniforms and more.
In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Girl Scouting, we are pleased to partner with the Tennessee State Museum for an interactive exhibit about the Girl Scout experience. The exhibit will feature rare artifacts, interesting memorabilia and uniforms down through the decades of Girl Scouts, with lots of hands-on activities for both girls and adults. Families and friends are also encouraged to share this exciting and educational experience. Special programs will be offered during the exhibit's run and limited edition souvenir merchandise will be available for purchase in the museum gift shop. Plan to join us at the Tennessee State Museum in September and October of 2012 for this once in a lifetime opportunity!

savannah smiles
Crisp, lemon cookies celebrate 100 years of Girl Scouts.
No town captures the imaginations of Girl Scouts like Savannah, Georgia. It was there in 1912 that Juliette Gordon Low walked beneath the moss-draped trees and made the decision to start her amazing organization for girls.

Little Brownie Bakers will pay tribute to the 100th Anniversary of Girl Scouting with a lemon cookie that reflects the heritage of past customer favorites. This lemon wedge cookie is cool and crisp, with just the right number of lemon chips to deliver tiny bursts of happiness. And, when you hold it right, you’ll quickly be reminded of that world-famous “Girl Scout Smile.” Savannah Smiles will be in market across the nation for the 2011-2012 Cookie Season. Each year, thousands of Girl Scouts visit the founder’s historical house in Savannah. Along the time-worn corridors, each girl considers how, even 100 years later, Juliette’s story continues to encourage them to dream big and do great things with their lives. That’s why we are so proud to offer a brand new variety that will delight customers and help girls make their dreams come true.

Happy 100th Birthday, Girl Scouts!
